Being a fellow golfer i just had to write something about this family's predicament in the golf course at Valley Golf Club. So read what Bambee de la Paz has in her blog and decide for yourself who was at fault. I have a feeling that Bambee's group must have been walking the course while playing and the group(with riding carts) behind them tried to jump ahead of them in the next hole. A no no in golf etiquette. You have to ask permission first and foremost. So let me side with Bambee's family on this matter. May they have their day in court. I also hope that the Golf Club ban those people who ever was at fault. For more on the story read some news report about it with this link.

Fisherman's Grill & Rey M.

Last Saturday Dec.20,'08 i googled my friend Eddie Tiongson's restaurant to check if he has put up a website for their business. Instead, i happened to surf Rey Maniago's website where he mentioned casually that Ed's wife Malou was his wife's cousin-in-law.
Sure enough when i read his blog about their wedding anniversary being catered by Malou i knew i found a relative of Eddie. Rey's wife Donna it turned out was Francis Pineda's younger sister.

Of course, i knew then it was a small world since both Eddie & Francis(cousins that they are) studied in Baguio City, Philippines in the late 60's. In fact, they use to room & board in our small place there. We had some good memories then. During our college vacation days we used to hie off to his parent's home in Dolores, San Fernando. With this post i would just like to thank his late parents Tatang Ading and Imang Lilling for all those happy times they accomodated us in their humble abode.

Let me mention his older brother Don(an architect who i saw one time in NY treating me in a Thai restaurant) thanks again. Eddie's older sister Alice & husband Greg who still run their famous restaurant in Sn Fdo. named PartyLand. And another sister Monette who i know is in the West Coast. Great family they have i have to say.

Lastly, i have to thank Rey & Donna Maniago for sharing his blog, photos of his family, his day to day life. Wishing you all the good luck in your early retirement days.

VLOG-GERS MAKING MONEY NOW LIKE BLOGGERS

Would you believe that? I was just reading this article from the New York Times. YouTube videos are pulling in real money nowadays. Yes for a few years now we've been watching youtube videos as a pastime. But now YOUTUBE the online video company has invited its members to become partners by putting advertisements to their personal videos. Member like Michael Buckley has even quit his daytime job and make videos his full time job. Earnings in the six figure amount... why not...right? For now at least there's a new horizon instead of just blogging to make money this days. Be a one man media company and have fun doing your shows.

Next is Reid Stowe as the Captain of his 70 foot schooner named Anne in honor of his Mom. A co-captain named Soanya Ahmad, Reid's girlfriend who is from Queens, NY. She's got her hands full too.That's the crew. They have embarked last April 27, 2007 on a non-stop 1000 day ocean trip without stopping for food supplies inland. Can't imagine what 2 years plus will be for this adventure but i'm hopping in for now and following their blog:

Golf Course Neighbors?

Thought of updating this blog after almost .... gosh how many months now. Anyway, like I said I'm in my golf sabbatical that will run until almost first week of November. An online buddy must be smiling under her nose if she reads this blog. Promised to feature a Farmer's Market close to our area at Hyde Park, NY. Yes, that market is close to the home of the late President Franklin Delano Roosevelt. It is a National Historic Site. So visit it someday when you have time. Sure, I'll feature the Farmer's Market that you can compare it with AANI Market ...okay! By the way there's lots of things to do here too if you happen to be in the Hudson Valley NY area.

Going back to this blog entry, i took some photos of some feathered and furried spectators while we we playing golf at Casperkill Golf Course here in Poughkeepsie. Yes, anytime whenever we meet ...I'll gladly give some golf tips. Golf Lessons...that you have to see a golf pro like they say.

Golfing Season is on!

Played 18 holes yesterday Saturday at Vassar Golf Course for my second day of golfing. As usual my driving was erratic. I did make some good chipping shots and my putting is in its normal state i should say...yeah right. The temperature hovered around the 50's midday and stayed that way until after we finished the game. Oh yes, it's good to see my golf buddies Mike, Richard and Anand after the winter break.

Today, Sunday is a washout. The forecast calls for 3-5 inches of rain and wind gusts of 30-50MPH. Luckily, the snow skirted the lower Hudson Valley, Dutchess County area in particular. That's good news meaning we won't have to deal with snow but not in the Upstate region where they will be socked with blizzard like conditions again. It will be good watering start for the golf courses instead of just April showers.

On a side note, i got to read Lisa's website today about Baguio's electoral candidates for mayor and the councilors. Check out her Baguio blog. Interesting to say that she is getting to be the resident civic-minded businesswoman that she is. Wouldn't mind seeing her run for office someday. Let's just hope that Baguio folks elect a good mayor. Peterrey Bautista is my choice.

Zach Johnson is the MASTERS CHAMPION

Zach Johnson is the new 2007 Masters Champion. He shot a round of 69, +1 to end up a total of 289. Retief Goosen, Rory Sabbatini & Tiger Woods tied for second with a total of 291 and were at +3. All top 16 players and ties are assured to return for the 2008 Masters Tournament.

Zach Johnson a native of Iowa started winning in the Hooters Tour followed by The Nationwide Tour then a lone win at the PGA Tour. Congratulations Zach Johnson ...

Saturday's Tough Golfing

The Augusta National Golf Course was the winner today punishing the players with its brutal conditions. The cold day and the wind brought the scoring average to 76.25 through 54 holes. Only one player scored a sub-par round of -2 at 70 and that is Retief Goosen. He still remains at +6 and is in contention though. Stuart Appleby leads the field with a +2 and will be paired with Tiger Woods who is at +3 in the final group. They will be followed by Justin Rose at +3 and Padraig Harrington who is at +4.

Sunday's shootout will be another thriller but they are predicting that the winner usually is in the final group. A new winner or Tiger Woods for 2007? We'll see! For more news on the tournament just go to the MASTERS.

Second Day at the MASTERS

Well the golf tournament in Augusta, Georgia played hard again today. The top contenders including the 2006 Champion Phil Mickelson could only manage a 1 over today for a total of +5. Tiger Woods struggled to a +3 but still has a chance to win it on Sunday. Only three golfers are in the red numbers including Brett Wetterich, Tim Clark at -2 to lead the field into Saturday. Vaughn Taylor follows with a -1.

Saturday's game will be tougher since they are calling for only a high of 53 and winds of 17 mph that will make the course even more treacherous for the players. For more information about the tournament just follow it up at the MASTERS.

Golf Blogging for Now

What better way to start Spring with the advent of Golf's Premier Tournament in Augusta, Georgia. The Masters is the first of 4 Championship events for the year 2007. Weatherwise, it will be in the cool 60's and that will pose a threat for these high caliber professionals. Right now, after the first day of play we have Justin Rose and Brett Wetterich at -3 leading the field. Tiger Woods is 4 shots behind at +1 and the reigning champion Phil Mickelson is at +4. If you want to keep track of the event just go to the Masters. Good coverage by this official website. It gives you live coverage of AMEN CORNER i.e. 11th,12th & 13th hole of the golf course. Meantime, here in my world they are calling for snow showers this Saturday. Better than snow since golf courses around the area are now open. Hope it stays that way that i can go to the driving range at Casperkill Golf Club and hit some golf balls. Laters.

Winter Break

Spent this past few days doing last minute preparations for the winter and the holidays. The gift shopping list is all done thanks. My fall cleanup is now a complete task having cleared the roof gutters with those pesky (helicopter?) maple leaves. Luckily, mother nature gave us a break here in this Eastern part of the country where we have been experiencing some balmy days the past two weeks. Today, it is a mild 54 degrees unusual at this time of the year.

Yesterday, the Denver, Colorado area was socked with it's first snow storm. Blizzard conditions were reported. They had about 2 feet of snow and the Denver International airport had to be shut down. Check out CNN's news account. Brrrrr... nothing of that sort yet here. Tonight will be the start of the winter season here. So, will we be having a white christmas? We shall see. Happy holidays everyone!

"We Have Liftoff"

Last Saturday night i was able to watch the launching of the Space Shuttle Discovery. It was an amazing experience coupled with a night time (8:47 EST)launching was a first for me to watch the event on television. After the live telecast on Fox News cable, I did some surfing of the National Space & Aeronautics Administration and even got to watch another spectacle. That of watching the live feedback of the movements of the Shuttle at the Mission Control in Houston, Texas. Will be following up on the docking of the the Discovery with the International Space Station come Monday.So, what are you waiting for check out NASA and go to their Multimedia Section and watch another wonder of electronics and the WWW..

Are you? Well, i am for one! They came to town during my college days at SLU in Baguio City, Philippines. Nope, they performed at the Rizal Memorial Stadium in Manila for a limited engagement. We drove (yes Lisa, borrowed my father's '62 VW Kombi back then) all the way down from Baguio to watch their 4 PM afternoon show on July 4 ,1966. The first half of the show was started by an all filipino ensemble Ms. Pilita Corrales, the Reycard Duets to name a few. Second half of the show was all about the Mop Topped band performing their 'Hard Day's Night' collection of songs including " I Want TO Hold Your Hand", "Love Me Do", "Yesterday", All My Loving", "Can't Buy Me Love", "From Me To You", "And I Love Her", "Ticket To Ride" etc.. How many people saw the show that afternoon let me say 20,000 to 25,000 by my estimate. Next performance for them was at 8:30 PM and by that time we were on our way back to Baguio. Aaaah NOSTALGIA!

Tinkering with Links

How do i link blogs and websites in my post? So, here i am trying to experiment on what i did with my template. FRANCESCA got me started on this with her post about a company that reneged on their recruiting workers for jobs in New Zealand. Their clients now are in a quagmire how to get their refunds on their processing fees. Read the lowdown dated Dec.04,'06 'Recruiting Company' at KA URO'S.

Instant messaging and chatting with old friends & relatives from Baguio brings back nostalgia and more importantly news from home. IRENE a daughter of Viyo was just a toddler when we left to seek greener pastures in the United States of America. Now, she's got a thriving business in Metro Manila. So, do i hear wedding bells soon? Skype is another chat program i use to contact regularly my brother George who used to run the old & defunct restaurant.

"Lisa's Dilemma on Comments"

Got to surf the net today... first my daily newspapers then some blogs. Went to Watson's blog and read his Nov.28 post about Global Warming. Titled " an inconvenient truth". I say scary thought but that's the way the world is going nowadays. Coincidentally, while watching OPRAH at 4 PM it was Sen Al Gore who was her guest expounding on this . Hoping with her exposure of the problem we'll get to slow down or minmize the process.

I was reading Lisa's blog for dollars and saw that she was a bit in a quandary trying to hack out this code. Read on and i quote " Also, if you notice, there are no comment texts displayed on Blogger for current posts, just a link stating "# comments" but you comment texts are dislayed in full when you go to previous posts. This bugs me about Blogger. I have been trying to find out how I can hack this code for the past 2 days but have been unsuccessful. I really want comment texts of current posts to be visible to all readers, just like in a Word Press blog."

Please .... Go to your SETTINGS, click COMMENTS....there...click YES on the question SHOW COMMENTS IN A POPUP WINDOW? this of course will put comments in a POPUP window for all or everyday comments ...where you in turn can reply to. then all the way down below after all the questionnaires on COMMENTS .... don't forget to your SAVE SETTINGS.

Sunny, Cold ,Windy Day

Woke up thinking we would have our first snow dusting for the day. It was 25 degrees F good enough to have frost on the windshields of cars. Luckily, the high pressure came up and brought the snow on the east end of Long Island and the New England states. Buffalo and Rochester area of NY will have about 6 to 8 inches of snow because of usual lake effect snow...whew! Snow belt area talaga. Weather forecast says it will be in the low twenties tonite.

Yesterday, we got to play what looks like my last round of golf here in the Dutchess County area at McCann Golf Course with my pinoy friends Alex, Vinny & Ed. Who knows i can still play a few rounds down in the New Jersey area i.e. if my friends and old officemates Eric, Wency and Rod call me. Usually it is warmer down there at this time. NJ has lots of good golf courses like NY and will be putting up some pictures in this blog. Another topic that I can talk about after picking up the game since 1989.

Got to do my house errands...mail,bank, and returned a DVD (movie CLICK) at Blockbuster. Oh yes, shopped for a new pair of snow boots at Modell's ... Smiths was the brand name. Guess where it was made.... China.... ano fi! Got the boots on a 25 % discount for 38 bucks. I'm ready for the snow shoveling on the driveway when it comes. Went to Stop & Shop for some groceries and got some scallions for the Lomein Noodles with chicken broth we are preparing for merienda(snack in Philippine lingo). This soup will be good with pork siopao (pork bun). Bought an 8 " custard egg pie ...yummy! Happy birthday ! Later.

Hello... welcome!

After reading blogs for the past few months now i was encouraged to create one. Dutched Pinay a prudent blogger from asawa.org days is a woman of substance as to her experiences in life. Wats0n a young blogger from Baguio City, Philippines has been a daily read being a Baguioite myself. Wish we had a Ka Uro( a pinoy in nz) in every corner of the globe to help our kababayans on emigrating to a new country. Kudos Ka Uro for blogging about NZ. Thanks to LISA her blogging articles on the ABC's of blogging was instrumental in putting up this blog. Eric(senorenrique) with his musings and photos around Manila and Manhattan,NY salamat.
